Josh Kline to Titans: Latest Contract Details, Comments, Reaction
The Tennessee Titans claimed offensive lineman Josh Kline off waivers Thursday, per Jim Wyatt of the team's official website. Tennessee has not disclosed the details of his contract.
Entering his fourth season in the NFL, Kline spent his first three years with the New England Patriots, appearing in 33 games and starting 18 before being released Wednesday.
In order to make room for Kline on the roster, the Titans released cornerback Cody Riggs, who recorded seven tackles in 11 games during his rookie season last year.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport originally reported on Tuesday the Patriots had traded Kline along with a fourth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for defensive back Eric Rowe. Shortly afterward, Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reported Kline was not part of the deal.
Kline provides Tennessee some insurance at both the left and right guard positions, where he flip-flopped over the past two years with the Patriots.
The Titans lacked depth at the position and were in need of more experience alongside Chance Warmack:
| Player | Position | Experience | Games | Starts |
| Quinton Spain* | LG | 1 Year | 7 | 6 |
| Chance Warmack* | RG | 3 Years | 46 | 46 |
| Sebastian Tretola | LG/RG | Rookie | 0 | 0 |

Tennessee's offensive line allowed 54 sacks last season, the most in the NFL, but Kline's arrival can help bring a different mentality. The O-line has the task of protecting second-year quarterback Marcus Mariota and leads the way for an overhauled running game that will feature DeMarco Murray and rookie Derrick Henry.
Kline appeared in the past two AFC Championship Games with the Patriots, so a Tennessee team that's won just five games over the past two seasons can draw from his experience.
