Rose Injury Details Revealed
Wednesday, Dec. 7
The Knicks announced an MRI determined there wasn't any structural damage and that Rose is officially day-to-day.
Ian Begley of ESPN.com previously reported Rose would have an MRI on Dec. 7, with head coach Jeff Hornacek calling the test a "precaution."
Rose No Stranger to Injuries
This was another physical setback for Rose in a career defined by them. The three-time All-Star and 2010-11 MVP was once one of the most explosive and exciting playmakers in the league, but injuries sapped him of much of his potential as a game-changing talent in the NBA.
Coming into Dec. 6, Rose was averaging 17.0 points and 4.9 assists per game this season.
He tore his ACL during the 2012 playoffs, missed the next year and then suffered another season-ending injury in 2013-14. He played a total of 39 games in 2011-12, 10 in 2013-14, 51 in 2014-15 and 66 last season.
Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press shared a look at Rose's injury history before he missed 16 games in 2015-16:
That Rose played 66 games last season was a step in the right direction, though his Chicago Bulls missed the playoffs. He averaged 16.4 points and 4.7 assists per game behind 42.7 percent shooting from the field and 29.3 percent shooting from three-point range, which was a far cry from his 2010-11 MVP campaign, when he posted 25.0 points and 7.7 assists per game.
