Jones Looking to Bounce Back from Inconsistent Start
The injury is another setback for Jones after he already dealt with a shoulder injury during the preseason.
The second-year back tallied a solid 490 yards and three touchdowns on the ground as a rookie in 2015 alongside Alfred Morris in the Washington backfield. Morris signed with the Dallas Cowboys during the offseason, so losing Jones for significant time would be a blow to Washington's depth at the position.
As the team's primary runner, Jones has been terrific in 2016 with 460 yards and three touchdowns on 99 carries through seven games. He had two 100-yard games in October, including a season-high 135 yards against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6.
However, it appears that Chris Thompson and Kelley are the feature backs and that Jones is on the outside looking in, even if his injury concerns are behind him.
