Andre Johnson Reportedly Signs with Titans

Adam WellsJul 6, 2016

After being released by the Indianapolis Colts, wide receiver Andre Johnson has found a new home in the AFC South after reportedly signing with the Tennessee Titans.

ESPN's Adam Schefter first reported the deal, while Ian Rapoport of NFL Network confirmed the report.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported on July 26 that Johnson was spotted at the Tennessee Titans' facility.

Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star added Johnson wants to play another season and believes he'll be able to contribute.

After spending the first 12 years of his NFL career with the Houston Texans, Johnson signed with the Colts in March 2015. He had the worst year of his career in which he played all 16 games, catching 41 passes for 503 yards and four touchdowns.

The Colts decided to move on from Johnson after one season, releasing him with two years left on his deal.

Johnson is no longer capable of carrying a receiving corps like he did for years in Houston, but he remains an effective pass-catcher when used in the right situation.

The Titans can use him for depth and leadership with a young receiving core and a young quarterback in Marcus Mariota, but it's unclear how much production he has left in the tank.
