Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Ricardo Rodriguez and N'Golo Kante Rumours

Tom SunderlandJun 11, 2016

The agent of Wolfsburg left-back Ricardo Rodriguez has revealed the Arsenal target has a "termination clause" in his contract but elaborated his client could favour a move to Serie A. Meanwhile, Leicester City have reportedly offered N'Golo Kante a new big-money contract to fend off Gunners interest.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, Rodriguez's agent, Gianluca Di Domenico, uncovered information regarding Rodriguez's contract, which is alleged to have a £19 million buyout clause (h/t Tom Doyle of the London Evening Standard):

"

Today, Ricardo Rodriguez has a termination clause, which was not there before. You have to respect the contracts.

Ricardo loves Italy so much, so surely if there was a serious proposal we would see.

But we need to see if there will be. I spoke with [Roma coach Walter Sabatini] on the phone a few times, but never about Ricardo Rodriguez.

Rodriguez is on duty with Switzerland at Euro 2016 and impressed during his nation's opening 1-0 win over Albania on Saturday, but a move is unlikely to come about until after his involvement in France is complete.

Doyle also provided quotes from Rodriguez, who recently spoke to Swiss newspaper Tagesanzeiger and detailed his friendship with compatriot Granit Xhaka, who joined Arsenal in a £34 million deal last month: "That would be exciting, yes, especially because the room arrangement at Arsenal would be fixed as well."

The sense is that Rodriguez is destined for the Volkswagen Arena exit this summer, especially after the Wolves finished eighth in the Bundesliga and failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Bleacher Report's Clark Whitney has supported interest in the talented Rodriguez, but recently pointed to Lorient and Portugal defender Raphael Guerreiro as a more cost-effective option:

The Telegraph's Jeremy Wilson reported in April that Arsenal are willing to listen to offers for Kieran Gibbs, who featured as back-up to Spaniard Nacho Monreal for the majority of last season.

Manager Arsene Wenger may indeed consider Rodriguez an upgrade on either of those defenders, though, and Ben McAleer of WhoScored.com recently depicted the 23-year-old's seasonal progress in Germany:

Elsewhere, Premier League champions Leicester have reportedly offered midfield talisman Kante a new £100,000 deal to stay at the King Power Stadium amid interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain.

That's according to Matt Law of the Telegraph, with the report falling after Kante dazzled in France's 2-1 win over Romania in the Euro 2016 opener, where Match of the Day's Gary Lineker was in awe of the anchor:

Leicester are striving to hold onto their league-winning squad of 2015-16, and ex-Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour recently told TalkSport striker Jamie Vardy looks increasingly likely to remain with the Foxes (h/t Samuel Stevens of the Independent).

Should Vardy remain, it may convince a star like Kante to also persevere at Leicester, and the offer of a new big-money contract is their first step to securing the player's services.
