Coleman Among League's Most Dynamic Backs When Healthy
This latest injury was another setback for the young running back because he suffered cracked ribs and a concussion during his rookie season in 2015 and played in just 12 games.
Although he dealt with some physical setbacks, Coleman posted a solid 4.5 yards per carry in 2015 on his way to 392 rushing yards and a touchdown. The Indiana product also flashed his overwhelming potential in his final collegiate season when he ran for an incredible 2,036 yards.
He delivered on that potential this year as a double threat who can come out of the backfield and bolster the aerial attack and split carries with Devonta Freeman. This has led to an impressive first half of the season, including 234 rushing yards, 330 receiving yards and six total touchdowns in seven games.
More of the load fell on Freeman in Coleman's absence. Atlanta also had weapons in the passing game it could turn to without Coleman, including quarterback Matt Ryan and wide receivers Julio Jones and Mohamed Sanu.
The Falcons were deep enough on offense to survive Coleman's injury, but his return makes them a more dangerous group.
