Cavaliers Set NBA Single-Game Record with 25 3-Pointers Made

Bleacher Report MilestonesMay 5, 2016

The Cleveland Cavaliers set a new NBA single-game record by making 25 three-point shots in Wednesday's 123-98 win over the Atlanta Hawks in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, per NBA on Twitter.

The old record of 23 was set in the regular season by the 2008-09 Orlando Magic, then matched (also during the regular season) by the 2012-13 Houston Rockets, per ESPN Stats & Info.

The old playoff record of 21 three-pointers made was set by the Golden State Warriors on April 24, just four days after this same Cavaliers team tied the prior record of 20, per ESPN Stats & Info.

It comes as no surprise to see these kinds of records falling so often, as NBA teams have become increasingly reliant on three-point shots in recent years.

The Cavaliers were unstoppable from beyond the arc Wednesday, converting 25 of their 45 attempts (55.6 percent) in a game that saw them carry a 74-38 lead into halftime.

Ten players sunk at least one trey, with starters J.R. Smith (seven), Kyrie Irving (four), LeBron James (four) and Kevin Love (three) leading the charge.

James also managed a personal milestone, passing San Antonio Spurs center Tim Duncan to take sole possession of fifth place on the NBA's all-time playoffs scoring list.

More important, the Cavs will head to Atlanta holding a 2-0 series advantage.
