D'Brickashaw Ferguson Reportedly Will Retire
New York Jets offensive tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson reportedly has decided to retire after contemplating the decision for weeks, according to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini.
The New York Daily News' Manish Mehta reported Wednesday that the Jets had asked Ferguson to rework his contract to facilitate Ryan Fitzpatrick's return.
According to Over the Cap, the 32-year-old is signed for the next two seasons and carries a salary-cap hit of $14.1 million in 2016 and $14.3 million in 2017.

Sources told Mehta that Ferguson would "be amenable to playing on a fair reduced salary," but it seems he has decided to call it quits altogether.
On March 19, Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan didn't dismiss the idea that the team could release Ferguson this offseason, per Dom Cosentino of NJ Advance Media:
"Right now, obviously, D'Brickashaw's under contract. And I would say our thought would be he would be.
But like everything else, with all players—and I've said this earlier on, with free agency this year—it's kind of a fluid free agency for us. We're trying to make decisions that are in the best interests of the organization, both short and long-term. So I would say right now he would be on our roster going forward, but we'll see how this thing unfolds.
"
The Houston Texans signed Brock Osweiler for four years and $72 million, and Sam Bradford re-signed with the Philadelphia Eagles for two years and $36 million, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. They set the market for free-agent quarterbacks this offseason, so Fitzpatrick is likely looking for something similar.
Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson reported on March 11 the Jets were losing interest in bringing the 11-year veteran back because the two parties were so far apart.
