Clint Capela Injury: Updates on Rockets Center's Broken Fibula and Return

The Houston Rockets announced Dec. 20 that center Clint Capela suffered a broken fibula against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Dec. 17, per Sam Amick of USA Today. Capela had not played since but is ready to return.

Capela Comments on Injury

Mark Berman of Fox 26 provided Capela's statement:

"

I will be okay. It happens. So now I'm just focused on the treatment, rehab stuff. I think I can be back pretty soon. The doctor, he said like a month and then after that it depends on how I am dealing with the pain. I'm just focused on trying to reduce the pain as much as I can. I'm pretty sure it's going to be less than six weeks.

Rockets Need Capela Healthy for Finals Push

The 22-year-old Switzerland native's role has expanded this year, as he's averaging 11.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game in 28 games as a starter.

After playing sparingly as a rookie in the 2014-15 season, Capela started to break out last season with averages of 7.0 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest to go along with a 58.2 field-goal percentage.

At 6'10" and 240 pounds, he proved to be a solid complement to Dwight Howard, but with Howard now in Atlanta, Capela is seeing more action as a featured player.

Free-throw shooting has been the one major flaw in Capela's game, as he is shooting just 44.6 percent from the charity stripe, though he tends to make up for that with his tenacity on the glass.

Capela was durable last season aside from a foot injury that hampered him in late February. He missed just three games and only five all season.
