Maybe Batista Moving to Smackdown Isn't the End of the World

When Batista moved to Smackdown, I along with almost everyone else assumed the worst. I thought Batista would force his way into the world title picture and leave Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison stuck in the mid-card forever.

Then a funny thing happened; the WWE creative team made a decision that made sense.

On the most recent edition of Smackdown, Batista let his intentions be known that he was going after Chris Jericho and Big Show for the Unified Tag Titles. This is the best possible thing the WWE could had done with Batista for several reasons:

The Punk/Undertaker Feud Can Continue

With Batista now focused on tag team gold; this now allows for the C.M. Punk/Undertaker feud to continue for a few more months

As excited as I was for this feud, I feel like it has gotten off to a sluggish start. I will say that I am intrigued to see how the creative team will spin the whole “Montreal Screw Job 2” storyline, and hopefully it will be a factor at the Hell in a Cell pay per view.

This is great for Punk because this means he should be able to hold onto the title for a few more months and become a more credible champ in the process (a clean victory over the Undertaker would be a good start).

The Tag Belts Continue To Gain Credibility

It has been well-documented that the WWE’s tag division has become very weak over the last year.

With Batista teaming up with Rey Mysterio; you finally have a face tag team with some credibility and ability to hang with JeriShow.

I do think Jericho and Big Show have done an admirable job trying to make the belts relevant especially against such lackluster competition.

Batista and Mysterio are two of the biggest faces in the company; so having them team up to win the tag belts would do wonders for the tag division.
