Not in The Least Bit Bothered About That Game....
Okay, I take that back. Iโm not looking forward to the incessant flood of nonsense from people who are paid very good money to have an understanding of the sport beyond that of the average armchair supporter. But other than that, I am not even slightly troubled by the Cowboyโs loss to the Giants last Sunday night. Yes, theyโre probablyย going to be our biggest competition in the division โ especially since McNabb is apparently made of porcelain โ and no matter what happens over the course of the season I canโt stand it when the Giants, Tom Coughlin, or (and especially) Eli Manning do anything that warrants a round of applause. But on the balance of play we shouldโve given them a hiding.
Now, Iโm fully aware that the world of sports is results-based, and that there are no gold stars or attaboys given that count for anything meaningful to a grown adult, but if you take away three poor passes and one otherworldly deflection, the Cowboys would probably be celebrating the most overwhelming defeat of their old foes in living memory.

Our defense is looking very solid. They managed to limit the Giants offense to only two field goals without the help of a Dallas turnover to start. Their vaunted rushing game was anemic โ 97 yards on 26 carriesโฆ.and donโt forget that this was the highest rated ground attack in the league last year. Admittedly, Manning had a very good game, but for the most part the Dallas defense bent without breaking (again, turnovers asideโฆ)
Our offense looks incredible. I cannot remember having an offensive set this dynamic. The running game is immense โ can you imagine where we wouldโve been if Felix Jones was healthy all last year? Even the passing game was competent โ it was even quite promising at times. The three interceptions were purely errors on Romoโs part, but to be honest Iโd rather have him throw a bonehead pick than be knocked down, sacked or pressured so much that heโs rushing his release and subsequently getting intercepted. We all know how Romo plays โ heโs always going to throw picks, but for the most part heโll do what it takes to put the team in a position to win (sort of like that guy who played for the Packers for a bitโฆ.). I didnโt even know what to make of the game as it came to a closeโฆwe pretty much had our way with their defense save for the interceptions, yet we were still contriving to lose.
But I'm confident the mistakes made that cost us the win will be sorted out over the course of the season. Hell, I doubt Romo and Witten could combine to produce another tipped pass that even remotely resembles the one intercepted in the second quarter, even if they were paid millions to do so. Once Romo settles down, the Cowboys will be a team to fearโฆ.
