Moore was penalized after knocking the wind out of Mallett in the second quarter, and the quarterback never returned, prompting speculation that he may have lost his starting job to Brian Hoyer in the process, per Josh Alper of ProFootballTalk.
"Coach Bill O’Brien then announced that Hoyer would be the starter this week, a decision he might have made anyway given Mallett’s overall ineffectiveness and the fact that he turned to Hoyer in the team’s previous game," Alper wrote.
Hoyer, the team’s Week 1 starter, played six possessions in the game—which resulted in a field goal, a touchdown, a punt, a touchdown, a field goal and an interception, respectively—according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.
The Oakland Raiders traded Moore to Indianapolis prior to Week 1. The Colts hoped he would project as an inside linebacker with the ability to double as an edge-rusher in passing situations, per Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star. But through five games, Moore has just two tackles and two assists—both against the Texans.
