Russian F1 Grand Prix 2015 Results: Winner, Standings, Highlights and Reaction
Lewis Hamilton took a huge stride toward securing a third world title as he won the 2015 Russian Grand Prix in Sochi on Sunday with rival Nico Rosberg failing to finish.
The German suffered a broken throttle pedal early on and was forced to retire just seven laps into the 53. Per Formula One, Rosberg was understandably frustrated by the development, which has all but ended his hopes of pipping Hamilton to the drivers' championship:
Per Formula One, Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen was deducted 30 seconds for a collision with Valtteri Bottas and therefore relegated to eighth place, meaning Mercedes won the drivers' championship for the second year running:
Sebastian Vettel and Sergio Perez rounded out the podium places. Hamilton expressed his delight as he extended his lead by a full 25 points and recorded a milestone win:

Fernando Alonso originally finished in 10th place, but was later given a five-second penalty for track infringements, per F1. As a result, he fell to 11th place, with Max Verstappen moving up a spot
The race started well for Rosberg, who, unlike in the Japanese Grand Prix, was able to hang onto his pole position heading into the first corner.
Further back, Nico Hulkenberg and Marcus Ericsson saw their race come to an early close as they crashed into each other, while Raikkonen made some early gains.
The trouble began for Rosberg in the fourth lap, as he reported the throttle problem, and just three laps later Hamilton passed him when Rosberg lost control in Turn 2:
The Englishman quickly built up a two-second lead on Valtteri Bottas, and his lead over the field extended to 11 seconds at one point as he saw out the Grand Prix unchallenged.
Romain Grosjean suffered a huge crash on the 12th lap that required the safety car to take to the track for four laps:
Fortunately, the Frenchman took to Twitter to show he was unharmed:
Bottas, who had trailed Hamilton in second, was forced into the pits with tyre problems and dropped to 11th in the standings with Raikkonen soon behind him as he also pitted.
Several more pit stops ahead of the pair saw them move up in the race to fifth and sixth, respectively, while Vettel remained comfortable in second.
While they exchanged places repeatedly, Perez was able to find his way to third, having pitted under the safety car to great effect.
Daniel Ricciardo separated the trio but was quickly caught by Bottas. In Lap 49, Ricciardo fell victim to a suspension problem that ended his race early, which moved Raikkonen up to fifth.
From there, the three had a thrilling battle in the final four laps. Raikkonen and Bottas dogged Perez at every turn and passed the Mexican when he locked up on a corner on the final lap, but the pair then immediately collided to hand Perez the podium finish.
Hamilton will surely go on to win the title now as another misfortune befell his Mercedes team-mate.
Indeed, Rosberg may not even finish second, as Vettel's second-place finish sees him overtake his compatriot in the standings.
