Buccaneers Will Face Angry Bills And Silent TO.

Tom EdringtonSep 15, 2009

"I wanted to shut everybody up who doesn't think we're a good football team" said Buffalo Bills safety Donte Whitner after the crushing loss to New England.

It was all there for the Bills; the impending upset of the New England Patriots and a possible message for the rest of the AFC East.

For 58 minutes, the Bills took care of business; then, they got Tom Brady-ed.

They got Brady-ed because they allowed themselves to; they gave him that last gasp,  fumbled a late kickoff and set the wheels turning for a really tough, last minute loss on Monday Night Football.

Final count: 25-24 Patriots and hopefully, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were watching and know they'll have their work cut out for them Sunday afternoon in Buffalo.

Donte Whitner and his teammates did show that they're a good football team, but in the end, an unopportunistic bunch.

It is usually one play that determines winners and losers of NFL games and that case was very evident Monday night.

Now, the Bills go home and lie in wait for the bad Buccaneers.

Hopefully, the Bucs offensive line saw how strong the Bills' defensive line played. They got after Tom Brady early and often.

Take note, Byron Leftwich.

Terrell Owens was in no mood to talk after the loss, but he did tweet, "We'll be ready next week I promises u that."

"We had them," Whitner said after the loss. Indeed they did. They had the Pats beat, but found a way to lose.

Now the focus turns to the Buccaneers.

Buffalo QB Trent Edwards went 15-for-25 for 212  yards and two touchdowns.

No doubt he's looking forward to testing the Buccaneer secondary that was pilfered by Dallas last Sunday. No doubt defensive end Aaron Schobel, who sacked Brady, stripped the football, picked it up and scored a touchdown, can't wait to get after Leftwich.

To make things testy for Tampa, the Bucs are without their best offensive lineman, Jeff Faine, who is out four-to-six weeks.

Sean Mahan was re-signed and Jeremy Zuttah may get the try at center.

Still, the Bills were there Monday for everyone to see.

You know the Bucs were watching. You were too.

It isn't going to be easy on Sunday, is it?
