Dzeko Reportedly Nearing Roma Move
Tuesday, Aug. 4
Mark Dobson of the Guardian passed along the news, saying the player had agreed personal terms with the Italian club and "will now travel to Italy to conclude a deal in the next 24 hours."
On August 1, Peter O'Rourke of ESPN FC reported a fee had been agreed for Dzeko at around €23 million after the Premier League side originally demanded €30 million for the Bosnia and Herzegovina international.
Dzeko is coming off a frustrating campaign that saw him score just six goals in 31 appearances across all competitions. A logjam at the attacking spots, further complicated by the arrival of Raheem Sterling, created more hurdles in his effort to lock down a starting spot.
He should receive more consistent opportunities if a move to Roma goes through. The Giallorossi didn't have anybody score more than eight goals in league play last season (Adem Ljajic and Francesco Totti) and thus could use a little more firepower.
Dzeko tallied 44 Premier League goals for City in the three terms before last season. Finding a new club is his best chance to get back toward that level of production.
