WWE Raw Results: Biggest Winners, Losers and Moments from June 29
When done correctly, the United States Championship Open Challenge gives underutilized talent the opportunity to prove their worth against the biggest star in professional wrestling, John Cena. Monday night's biggest winner, Cesaro, did just that and wowed the WWE Universe in the process.
Having spent the last six months teaming with Tyson Kidd, The Swiss Superman had not had the opportunity to prove his worth in very many high-profile singles bouts.
Given 20 minutes to work with, though, he and Cena delivered a near-classic match, complete with dramatic near-falls and false finishes that kept the Washington, D.C. fans on the edge of their collective seat.

Best of all for Cesaro was the fact that he was arguably moments away from defeating Cena with the Cesaro Swing-Sharpshooter combination when Kevin Owens entered the squared circle and cost him the match via disqualification.
After looking so strong throughout, he was spared defeat.
He gets to continue looking strong going forward, something that will help him if WWE Creative ever gets its head out of the clouds and finally gives him the push that seemingly everyone else knows he is deserving of.
On a wrestling-heavy edition of Raw, Cesaro was hardly the only winner.
Fellow indy vets like Paige and Seth Rollins were showcased nicely, and blonde bombshell Lana also had a landmark episode that featured character development of the utmost importance.
And then there were the Superstars who were not so lucky, the biggest losers of the night. While not as plentiful, they exist. Who are they?
Take a look for yourself with this edition of the biggest winners, losers and moments from the June 29 episode of Raw.
Winner: Roman Reigns
The juggernaut of WWE has proven time and time again to be one of the most resilient Superstars on the roster.
He overcame the technical skill of Daniel Bryan to win at Fastlane, withstood the brutal pummeling dealt to him by Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and overcame the fury of the "World's Largest Athlete," Big Show, at Extreme Rules in a Last Man Standing match.
On Monday night, he again took a brutal beating at the hands of The Authority and was power-bombed through a table by Seth Rollins.
But he kept getting up. Until he could not feasibly get up any more.
While he stayed down following an assault by Bray Wyatt this time, there is something about that refusal to stay down in the face of further punishment that has helped Reigns regain the support of the fans after a bumpy post-Royal Rumble period this past winter.
It is the sort of booking fans cheer for, rather than the superhuman hero that Cena plays every week, and the sort of booking that will ultimately get Reigns to the promised land.
Winner: Lana
From the outset, The Ravishing Russian has been a prim and proper woman. Even as the mouthpiece for the dangerous Rusev, she was much classier than your typical WWE Divas.
On Monday night, though, the WWE Universe witnessed the latest development in the character of Lana as she snapped, igniting a catfight between herself and Summer Rae that could very well set up a high-profile SummerSlam match.
After being called a phony by the former Total Divas star, Lana experienced a hard slap across the face. She responded by taking her down and pounding her head off the mat.
Much like Sable was originally a classy valet for Marc Mero until emotional and verbal abuse at the hands of the Golden Gloves boxer and a heated feud with Luna Vachon instigated change within her, Lana now finds herself transforming from the proper lady to the woman unafraid to stand up for herself.
Expect to see more of that from her as the weeks progress.
Loser: Mark Henry
There was a time when The World's Strongest Man was one of the most respected and feared Superstars on the roster. He is a former world heavyweight champion who picked up clean wins over the likes of Randy Orton and Sheamus at a time when that simply did not happen.
He knocked off Ryback at WrestleMania 29 and delivered one of the greatest promos of all time to set up a feud with Cena.
On Monday night, though, fans got a taste of just how far the big man has fallen when he was defeated by Big Show in just over one minute.
That's right, one minute.
Henry has become the highest-profile enhancement act on the roster, without a doubt making him Monday's biggest loser.
Winner: Paige
The top contender to Nikki Bella's Divas Championship proved on Monday just how talented a worker she is when she squared off with Alicia Fox in a match that lasted nearly 10 minutes.
When given the time to perform without having to rush through spots just to get them in, the Divas are capable of delivering quality wrestling matches. Paige, one of the best workers on the women's roster, proved as much as she sold a beating from Fox, then mounted a comeback full of knees to the face and a nasty superkick.
Best of all was the way she was booked.
Early in the match, she found herself momentarily distracted by the Bella Twins at ringside. That allowed Fox to gain control of the match. Later, when Nikki again tried to insert herself into the bout, Paige used it against Fox, countering a rollup and scoring the pinfall victory.
For once, she got one over on the evil Team Bella. Whom she ultimately recruits to back her up in the war with the sisters and Fox remains to be seen, but for right now, the story WWE Creative is telling is working.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Yes, the opening segment of Raw was incredibly long and stupid, but Rollins deserves credit for being able to ham it up and make the fans hate the sycophantic suck-up before them.
He was so thankful for Kane and J&J Security's assistance in beating down Lesnar that he showered them with gifts, including watches, Hawaiian vacations and a brand-new Cadillac.
It was reminiscent of The Rock buying gifts for the Nation of Domination back in 1998, showing it his gratitude and ensuring that it would always have his back.
Of course, the one thing Rollins was missing was a giant photo of himself presented to Kane to really put over just how big of an egomaniac he is, but that is forgivable.
This was masterful heel work from Rollins, even if it could have been accomplished in a much shorter backstage segment.
Losers: The New Day
It was not all that long ago that The New Day was the most over heel act in WWE. In fact, one must look no further than a month ago, just prior to it dropping the tag titles to The Prime Time Players.
Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods had recovered from a disastrous start to the gimmick to emerge as the breakout act in the company.
Since losing the gold, however, they have suffered a rapid descent. Sure, they are on television every week and will challenge for the tag titles again at Battleground. With that said, they are defeated far too often and are in danger of losing both their momentum and credibility.
Another loss did them no favors on Monday night.
