LeBron James Reportedly Will Re-Sign with Cavaliers
Superstar forward LeBron James has agreed to a two-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers, worth $47 million with a player option after the first season, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard.
ESPN's Brian Windhorst confirmed the report.
There was never any real doubt that James would re-sign in Cleveland; on June 28, Broussard reported LeBron would re-sign with the Cavaliers and did not intend to visit with any other potential suitors.
James gave every indication that he is comfortable with the Cavaliers following their NBA Finals loss to the Golden State Warriors, per Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com.
"Ha, I haven't even thought about [free agency] until you just said something," James said. "I'll tackle all of that after the season, but, yeah, I'm happy where I'm at."
There will likely always be some trepidation on the part of Cavaliers fans due to the manner in which LeBron previously bolted for the Miami Heat in 2010, but this certainly feels like a very different situation. Everything James has said and done suggests that his long-term future is with the Cavs, and it is difficult to envision that changing after the team came within two wins of a championship.
