WWE Money in the Bank 2015 Results: Biggest Stars of the Night
In many ways, the WWE Money in the Bank pay-per-view is just as important as the Royal Rumble for dictating who will be the most prominent stars in the company.
Whatever happens at this event always has massive repercussions for not just the biggest event of the season with SummerSlam, but also the state of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship itself.
For the 2015 Money in the Bank show, Dean Ambrose would head into a ladder match against Seth Rollins after coming as close as possible to winning the title without actually having it officially in the record books. Would he be able to slay that dragon for good?
Even if that were to happen, the wrestler who would be declared the new Mr. Money in the Bank would earn an opportunity to cash in his title shot at any given moment. Someone like Neville could go from a relative rookie to the top of the food chain in one night.
The New Sensation wouldn't be the only newer talent to attempt to step forward and boost his credibility, as Kevin Owens would square off with John Cena to further establish which of those champions reigns supreme.
So many people were given chances to shine, but only a few could truly stand out and make a name for themselves. Which wrestlers were able to do that?
Judging based on factors such as wins and losses, quality of their performances and the level of spotlight that WWE acknowledged, let's take a look at who came out of Money in the Bank 2015 as the biggest stars of the night.
5. The Bella Twins
1 of 5
Twin Magic works yet again as Nikki Bella retained her title with some help from her sister, Brie.
After a more entertaining match than the main roster Divas have been doing as of late, the inevitable switch happened, but with a twist.
Brie was pinned, and it appeared as though Paige had become the new champion, but the referee realized his mistake.
This allowed Nikki the opportunity to capitalize and hit the Rack Attack for the win, prolonging her title reign ever closer to the record.
It's clear the Bella Twins are the true focal point of the women in the company, and now that the title is still in Nikki's possession, that fact has been reiterated more than ever.
4. Kevin Owens
2 of 5
As if Kevin Owens didn't already look impressive over the past few months and his victory at Elimination Chamber, his performance at this event was just as good of a showing, if not better.
Very rarely does someone take John Cena to the limit like this in a way that can come off as a win even while actually losing the match.
Owens did in fact come up short, but there's no doubt he will be a huge talking point on the next episode of Raw due to his actions after the match when he powerbombed Cena on the ring apron.
If there was any way for Owens to take the pin but not look like a loser, it was this, and he deserves an immense amount of credit for his performance in one of the best matches of the year.
3. John Cena
3 of 5
Just as Kevin Owens deserves credit for putting on a great match at this event, John Cena is responsible for the other half of that duo. It takes two to tango, and it wouldn't have been the same without the franchise player's participation.
The reasoning behind Cena being higher on this list is simple: He won the match.
Yes, he was beaten down afterward, but the record books will still show Cena as the winner, and that has to be factored in when comparing the stars of the night.
To keep this feud going, there's no doubt Cena will have something to say and will dictate what direction the third match between the two will go.
2. Sheamus
4 of 5
It should go without saying that Sheamus deserves to be on this list because he's the new Mr. Money in the Bank.
Defeating the crop of contenders he was in the match with is impressive, but even more important is the potential for the future.
Over the next few months, Sheamus has the opportunity to cash in his title shot and win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at any given moment.
The Celtic Warrior was not the smart bet going into the pay-per-view, but he pulled off an upset.
1. (Tie) Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose
5 of 5
Similar to the John Cena and Kevin Owens situation, both Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose need to be given fairly equal credit for their performances in their match at this event.
More so than the other match, though, this one ended with things being about as evenly matched as possible, as both men pulled the championship down and Rollins only came out on top due to a technicality.
This was brutal and incredibly fun, and it showed that both men are two of the best people on the roster today.
There is a good chance the former Shield members are not done feuding with each other and the build to Battleground could revolve around both in the main event. Even if it doesn't, both will undoubtedly continue to be two of the biggest focal points going forward.
Who do you think are the biggest stars of the night? For that matter, who do you think were the biggest blunders on the show?
