Wanted: 53 Men Committed to One Purpose.

Fact: Tom Cable loves players who want to be on the team.

Fact: Al Davis will have his input.

So, based on these two facts, here is MY projection of the final 53. Unlike most articles, I will give you the guys on special teams right up front.

P: Shane Lechler

K: Sebastian Janikowski

LS/LB: Jon Condo

Now, on with the real show, I assure you there are no "gimme" positions to be had, it was a tremendous competition at a lot of different positions.

I've seen a few articles discussing the "Seahawks go 4-0 in preseason," or, "the Bills, Chiefs, and Tampa Bay fire offensive coordinators."

Let me first say, that I am super happy that neither of these stories involve Oakland. Yeah, I said I'm happy that Oakland didn't go 4-0. In fact, I'm happy they went 1-3.

Maybe it's a sign of things to come; you know like in the past how we've done very well in preseason and had horrendous regular seasons? This may be the opposition of that.

Without further ado, let's get on with the show.

QB's (3): JaMarcus Russell, Bruce Gradkowski, Jeff Garcia.

Cut: Charlie Frye: I don't like it. If it was I, it would be Garcia here, but if nothing else, he has earned himself a lower spot on the depth chart with all of his franticness.

HB's (6): Darren McFadden, Michael Bush, Justin Fargas, Oren O'Neal, Marcel Reece, and Gary Russell.

Cut: Louis Rankin: If his knee injury isn't season ending, then he will take Gary Russell's spot as the sixth man. If it is, he will get another crack next year. Luke Lawton gets cut, along with Rankin.

TE's (3): Zach Miller, Brandon Myers, Tony Stewart

Cut: Darrell Strong will make practice squad.

WR's (6): Chaz Schilens, Javon Walker, DHB, Louis Murphy, JLH, and Nick Miller.

Cut: Jonathan Holland and Todd Watkins will most likely make the practice squad; Nick Miller might not make it past waivers.

OL (9): Robert Gallery, Mario Henderson, Chris Morris, Cooper Carlisle, Eric Pears, Paul McQuistan, Kalif Barnes, Samson Satele

Cut: James Marten, Seth Wand, Mark Wilson, Cornell Green, John Wade: Green has been terrible this preseason, giving up two sacks in the first two drives of the last two games. UG, if he doesn't get cut, then there is something wrong there. John wade gave it the old "school boy try," but his age and injuries prove to be too much. Expect Pears or McQuistan to fill that right tackle spot until Barnes returns from injury.

DL (8): Greg Ellis, Jay Richardson, Tommy Kelly, Trevor Scott, Gerard Warren, William Joseph, Desmond Bryant, Matt Shaughnessy

Cut: Ryan Boschetti, Terdell Sands, Greyson Gunheim: All these players are self explanatory. Boschetti is decent, but there is no room.

LB's (6): Kirk Morrison, Ricky Brown, Thomas Howard, Isaiah Ekejiuba, John Alston, Sam Williams

Cut: Morlon Greenwood, Chris O'Neill, Slade Norris, David Nixon: Nixon and Norris will make the practice squad. Sam Williams is better than both of them at this point in time.

DB (9): Nnamdi Asomugha, Chris Jonson, Tyvon Branch, Hirum Eugene, Mike Mitchell, Michael Huff, Stanford Routt, John Bowie, Rashad Baker

Cut: Jerome Boyd, Darrick Brown, Justin Miller, Jason Horton, Mike Hawkins: Bottom line, Bowie outperformed Miller, Miller has turf toe, and Nick Miller is your new kickoff returner. Darrick Brown will make the practice squad. Jerome Boyd will make the practice squad.

Your nine practice squad players are: WR Jonathan Holland, WR Todd Watkins, LB Slade Norris, LB David Nixon, TE Darrell Strong, DB Darrick Brown, DB Jerome Boyd, DL Greyson Gunheim, and P Ricky Schmitt.

Okay, now tell me why I'm wrong...GO RAIDERS!
