QB Greyson Lambert to Transfer from Virginia to Georgia
The carousel of transfer quarterbacks in college football continued to spin Wednesday, as Virginia's starting quarterback from the 2014 season decided to make a move to the SEC.
Former Virginia junior quarterback Greyson Lambert told ESPN's Joe Schad he was transferring to Georgia for the upcoming season. The news was later confirmed by 247Sports' Ryan Bartow.
The Jesup, Georgia, native and former 4-star recruit is set to graduate this summer and will immediately be able to play at Georgia with two years of eligibility left in his college career.
Lambert tweeted in May he would transfer from Virginia after losing the top spot on the team's post-spring practice depth chart. According to Marc Weiszer of the Athens Banner-Herald, Georgia was given permission by Virginia to contact Lambert last week.
The fourth-year junior quarterback started nine of Virginia's 12 games last season and missed three games in the middle of the schedule due to an ankle injury. Lambert threw 10 touchdown passes and 11 interceptions last season for the Cavaliers.

In a story earlier this week, Bleacher Report's Barrett Sallee wrote that Lambert's impending transfer to Georgia was all about the Bulldogs getting experienced depth at quarterback for the upcoming season.
"Lambert, like [Florida State quarterback Everett] Golson, would not be a savior for Georgia, nor would he be the player who makes or breaks Georgia's SEC East title hopes. He's a solid player who has more experience than any other quarterback on the Georgia roster and can provide much-needed depth for a program that could use some.
"
Lambert will join sophomore Brice Ramsey, junior Faton Bauta and redshirt freshman Jacob Park in the competition for the starting quarterback job at Georgia.
Looking ahead to next season, which will be Lambert's final year of eligibility, the Bulldogs currently have a commitment from 5-star prospect Jacob Eason, the No. 1 quarterback in the class of 2016 and the No. 3 player in the country.
Sallee tweeted that Lambert's arrival in Athens and Eason's commitment could signal more roster moves for Georgia's quarterbacks:
