Originally Ambrose thought he would receive the belt for his win, and the crowd was in a frenzy, per WWE:
But Ambrose didn't take the news well and ran away with the belt, via WWE:
Multiple superstars sided with Ambrose on Twitter:
"Dean Ambrose. New WWE Champ!!!! #WWEChamber

After the match, Triple H wasn't pleased with Ambrose's actions:
WWE's Lunatic Fringe beat Rollins during the build toward Payback to get added to what was ultimately a Fatal 4-Way match for the world title involving Roman Reigns and Randy Orton as well. The Viper ended up taking the pinfall, which led to Ambrose essentially forcing the champ into a rematch.
The unstable Superstar threatened to squash Rollins' head between cinder blocks and a steel chair, which was somewhat reminiscent of how Ambrose was put out of action several months ago.
That led to The Authority kowtowing to Ambrose's request, after which Ambrose made it clear he was no ordinary Superstar, according to WWE Universe on Twitter:
On the go-home episode of Raw, though, The Authority made a last-ditch effort to eradicate the insane wrestler by having him arrested for accidentally striking a cameraman.
Rollins, Triple H, Stephanie McMahon and Co. thought they had knocked Ambrose out of the Elimination Chamber match since he wouldn't be able to sign the contract, but he returned in a police truck at the end of the show and fought off The Authority with help from Reigns.
The self-professed future of WWE was once again done in by the fact that he has made so many enemies since last year. Even Rollins acknowledged that he isn't particularly well liked by his counterparts:
Rollins does have The Authority on his side, though, including J&J Security and Kane. They were key figures in him keeping the WWE World Heavyweight Championship around his waist, and he was able to hold on to that belt Sunday night.
Considering the fact Ambrose was stuck in a crowded Intercontinental Championship scene and placed in a dead-end feud with Luke Harper not too long ago, his strides in recent weeks are nothing short of remarkable.
All three former Shield members have been positioned quite well recently, and after what happened at Elimination Chamber, they all figure to be key players moving forward. With only two weeks until Money in the Bank, a rematch would appear to be very much in play.
