Although Craig Sager made his long-awaited return to an NBA sideline earlier in March, he announced shortly thereafter that he wouldn't be able to cover the NCAA men's basketball tournament due to additional medical testing.

On Sunday, Turner Sports' Rachel Nichols provided a statement from the Sager family updating fans on his status, revealing that his leukemia has returned:

Sager was first diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in April 2014. He took 11 months off while undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

Sager's first game back was a March 5 matchup between the Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder. Throughout the night, a number of NBA luminaries offered their well-wishes to the legendary broadcaster:

"I'm very grateful, very thankful, and I got up today and it was like the first day of school," Sager said on the day of his return, per ESPN.com's Nick Friedell. "You're a little nervous. I've done it before but everything's a little different. It's a long 11 months, believe me."
