Sportscaster Peppers Lacrosse Game with Tom Haverford Lines from 'Parks and Rec'
Many of us lost an old friend when Parks and Recreation ended in February.
We've each dealt with the void in our own way—mostly salty foods and inward depression. One sportscaster did something a touch more productive, however, and paid tribute to the show by rifling off an arsenal of Tom Haverford (played by comedian Aziz Ansari) quotes during a recent women's college lacrosse game.
CBS Radio host Glenn Clark stepped into the booth for Saturday's game between No. 19 Stevenson University and Haverford College. Realizing the opportunity, Clark reeled off a steady stream of Tom Haverford lines.
BroBible's Brandon Wenerd dug up audio from the game. Clark tried to squeeze a few into triple coverage, but most slipped nicely into the play of the game.
Some of my favorites:
- "Merrick gets in front of the goal, and, just like that, treat yo self, Kathryn Merrick. Her second goal today."
- "Sometimes you gotta work a little so you can ball a lot."
- "For Kathryn, you'd assume that the Haverford defense is thinking the four sweetest words in the English language: 'You wore me down, Kathryn Merrick.'"
I personally would've liked to hear Clark refer to lacrosse sticks as "tactile butterfly nets" and balls as "round-ass biscuits."
Anyway, Kathryn Merrick clearly deserves both apps and zerts. She's earned that much.
