After the continuation of Hasselbeck's NFL career was announced, the three-time Pro Bowler seemed thrilled with his decision:
Although Hasselbeck said prior to the 2014 season that he intended to retire following that campaign, he had a change of heart.
Stephen Holder of The Indianapolis Star believes that the decision to bring Hasselbeck back into the fold was a sensible one for everyone involved:
There is absolutely no question that the Colts are Andrew Luck's team, but it must be comforting to have a veteran presence like Hasselbeck behind him.
Hasselbeck once reached the Super Bowl as the Seattle Seahawks' quarterback, and he is a wealth of knowledge, which is likely invaluable to Luck's development.
Barring disaster, Hasselbeck will see the field in an extremely limited capacity in 2015, if at all.
Even so, he is an important piece to the puzzle as the Colts attempt to go from getting blown out in the AFC Championship Game to playing for all the marbles.
