Smartest Potential Bet

There are several wagers worth taking heading into the Super Bowl, but the safest bet to make will be taking the over, currently set at 48.5 points.

Seattle has an immense amount of defensive talent on the roster, finishing the season first against the pass and third against the run, but the team has yet to face an offensive unit as dangerous as New England’s this postseason.

The Seahawks do have momentum on their side after allowing 17 points to the Carolina Panthers in the divisional round and just 22 points in the NFC Championship Game against Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, but the Patriots are just as hot offensively.

Not only did New England rack up 35 points against Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens in a divisional-round thriller, but the team also managed to dominate the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Championship, 45-7.

Over the last two games, the Patriots have scored a total of 80 points.

Add in the fact that quarterback Russell Wilson and the rest of the Seattle offense managed to amass 31 points against Carolina and 28 points against Green Bay (despite throwing four interceptions), and this matchup will feature more offense than expected.

With New England still having elite defenders like Vince Wilfork and Darrelle Revis ready to attack, the score will not be a straight-up offensive shootout, but this will not be the defensive struggle several experts have predicted.

If you’re looking for a wager that has the potential to pay out well and is still a relatively safe bet, ride with the Patriots and the Seahawks combining for more than 48.5 total points on Super Bowl Sunday.

Predicted Final Score: New England 27, Seattle 24
