Davis Probable vs. Hawks

Monday, Feb. 2

Davis told John Reid of NOLA.com that he expects to play on Monday as the Pelicans take on the Atlanta Hawks.

On Sunday, Feb. 1, the Pelicans announced Davis is likely to play Monday against Atlanta after missing Friday's game vs. the Clippers.

Davis Injures Groin vs. Nuggets

Wednesday, Jan. 28

The New Orleans Pelicans haven't been able to break through in the Western Conference to this point, but it's certainly not the fault of star forward/center Anthony Davis.

Unfortunately, the team may have to find a way to win without its MVP candidate for the time being.

Nakia Hogan of NOLA.com reported after Wednesday night's game versus the Denver Nuggets that Davis will undergo an MRI on Thursday due to a groin injury he suffered during the game.

Davis has dealt with some minor issues this season, including a recent toe injury that kept him out of the Pelicans' lineup.

You can notice the difference in New Orleans when Davis isn't on the court. The Pelicans scored just 81 points in a loss to Philadelphia on January 16. He's been an unstoppable force when on the court, as these numbers from ESPN Stats & Info show:

It takes a special talent to be in the MVP conversation even though his team isn't a real playoff contender. Davis has been that good for the Pelicans, leading the league in ESPN.com's player efficiency rating this season.

The scary thing about that is he's just 21 years old.

Injuries have limited Davis in the past, as he played in just 66 games last season. There's always the concern with big men that they will struggle to stay healthy, but the former No. 1 overall pick hasn't been hindered by any of those setbacks thus far.

Hopefully, things stay that way for Davis.
