Safest Bet: Over 54 (20-21)
One of the best parts about the AFC Championship Game will be laying a few hard-earned dollars on the line, but finding the safest bet will allow you to make a few bucks while avoiding a big loss.
In the battle between Indianapolis and New England, bet the over, currently set at 54 points.
The Colts and the Patriots are known for the prowess of their respective offensive units. With Andrew Luck leading his team to an average of 25 points per game this postseason and Tom Brady hanging 35 points on Baltimore last weekend, the safest bet is the teams combining to score more than 54 points.
The official Twitter account of The Boston Globe shared a telling stat about the rivalry—or lack thereof—and the previous points totals between Indianapolis and New England:
While there are other bets to make, playing the spread isn’t safe in this matchup. RJ Bell of PreGame.com talked about how the Patriots have struggled against the spread, a wager gamblers should be avoiding Sunday as well:
The Colts finished the regular season ranked first in the league in terms of yards per game (305.9) and will be able to rack up points on a New England defense that allowed 428 total yards of offense against Joe Flacco and the Ravens.
Not to be outdone, the Patriots racked up 422 yards of total offense and stole the win by racking up 35 points against Baltimore. Regardless of which team ends up pulling out the victory, it is clear it will be an offensive battle.
Bet the over with certainty.
Predicted Final Score: New England 33, Indianapolis 30
