Toler Expected to Play After Being Listed Questionable
Sunday, Jan. 18
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Toler will play today:
On Friday, Colts head coach Chuck Pagano told reporters Toler is officially questionable after being a limited participant in Friday's practice, according to Mike Chappell of RTV6 in Indianapolis. Pagano also stated he expected Toler to play:
Toler Misses Thursday Practice
Thursday, Jan. 15
The Indianapolis Colts will need to be at full strength when they meet the New England Patriots in Sunday's AFC Championship Game, but there is some level of concern regarding cornerback Greg Toler.
According to ESPN.com's Mike Wells, neither Toler nor fellow starting corner Vontae Davis had his helmet with him at practice Thursday:
Josina Anderson of ESPN reported Toler was limited today:
Per Stephen Holder of The Indianapolis Star, that means it is unlikely that either player will participate in the key practice ahead of the biggest game of the season:
This comes on the heels of Toler and Davis missing Wednesday's practice as well. Toler was held out due to a groin ailment, but Holder wasn't concerned about his availability for Sunday's clash with the Patriots:
If Toler, Davis or both are unable to suit up, though, that gives the Pats a huge advantage. The 30-year-old Toler has had a solid season with 57 tackles and two interceptions, although he is often overlooked due to Davis' presence.
One person who fully realizes Toler's importance, however, is Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, according to Gregg Doyel of The Indianapolis Star:
New England has a litany of weapons on offense, including wide receivers Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell and Danny Amendola, along with tight end Rob Gronkowski.
The Colts are equipped to slow down the Pats' attack, much like they did to the Denver Broncos last week, but that will be much easier said than done if Toler is limited or forced to sit.
