The Best Highlight for the Los Angeles Kings' Stars in 2014-15

Eric McKelvieJan 8, 2015

The Los Angeles Kings aren't known for their offense, they are known for their puck possession and defense. But the Kings’ offensive stars have produced plenty of highlight-reel plays so far in 2014-15.

Whether it’s Marian Gaborik and Anze Kopitar dazzling in the offensive zone or Drew Doughty creating something from way back in the L.A. zone, there has been a number of impressive goals. And don't forget about Jonathan Quick. The goaltender has come up with many huge saves at crucial times in games.

With that in mind, here is a look at the best highlights from the Kings’ stars so far this season.

Anze Kopitar

1 of 5

Anze Kopitar is one of the most dynamic players in the NHL, and he shows why on this play.

He makes a great move reading the play and picking up the loose puck near the L.A. blue line. Then he flies down the wing, holding the puck and waiting for the exact moment to flick it across to Jeff Carter so the defenseman can't block it.

It was a crucial goal, as it tied the game 4-4 in the third. The Kings went on to win 6-4. It was also Carter's first goal in 14 games, which jump-started a hot streak for the sniper.

Marian Gaborik

The home run pass.

Marian Gaborik's speed and goal-scoring abilities are on full display here. On this play, he gets the credit for a great finish while Jeff Carter makes a long pass to set him up.

From back inside the L.A. blue line, Carter flips the puck ahead to the Nashville line. Gaborik does the rest to give the Kings a 2-1 lead early in the second period against the Predators.

Jeff Carter

We’ve already witnessed some of Jeff Carter’s brilliance on Marian Gaborik's goal. Here Carter gets one of his 11 goals on the season, and he makes it look easy.

Beating a couple of Vancouver Canucks players at the line, Carter takes the puck and snipes it by Eddie Lack with ease. This put L.A. up 5-0, and they would go on to win 5-1.

Drew Doughty

From behind his own net to the back of the Nashville Predators net.

Drew Doughty does his best Bobby Orr impression with this coast-to-coast goal. He never lost the puck for a moment and was barely touched. He skated over the Predators' blue line and into three defenders, but he took a quick shot that squeaked in to tie the game.

Nashville went on to win the game 4-3 in a shootout.

Jonathan Quick

5 of 5

Jonathan Quick has probably had more highlight-reel saves than anyone else on the team has had big hits, beautiful passes or great goals. It’s hard to narrow it down to just one play. He made a game-saving stop against the Minnesota Wild that comes up just short of this gem.

Quick keeps a game against the Ottawa Senators scoreless with an unforgettable glove save. It’s not uncommon to see a goalie do this standing upQuick has had a couple of good grabs this season himselfbut this one is different. The netminder shows off his athletic ability as he reaches back while laying on the ice to rob Curtis Lazar.
