A.J. Green Injury: Updates on Bengals Star's Concussion and Return

As the Cincinnati Bengals ready themselves for the playoffs, the health of their Pro Bowl receiver might be up in the air for the postseason after he was placed under the concussion protocol following the team's game against Pittsburgh in Week 17. Green Placed Under Concussion Protocol

According to Coley Harvey of ESPN.com, A.J. Green was placed under concussion protocol after the team's 27-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers: 

Green finished the game with eight catches for 82 yards; however, he lost a fumble on the play that knocked him out of the game. 

Although Green was limited by injuries for patches of the 2014 season, he still managed to make his fourth straight Pro Bowl. In addition, the 26-year-old arguably remains the AFC's best receiver.

Green's importance to the Bengals offense cannot be overstated. Andy Dalton's not going to all of a sudden become a different quarterback. He'll always remain equal parts competent and confounding. Sports Illustrated's Doug Farrar puts Dalton under the "average" umbrella:

With Green on the field, though, Dalton becomes a much better quarterback, as would anybody with a wideout that talented whom one could target.

Cincinnati is far from a one-man team, but it's difficult seeing how the Bengals can cope without Green in the playoffs.
