Rams Want to Keep Bradford
Thursday, Dec. 11
Albert Breer of the NFL Network reports the team's front office wants to rework the quarterback's huge cap number. Aside from that potential hurdle, it still wants to give him a chance to prove he can be a franchise cornerstone:
He also notes Rams head coach Jeff Fisher is on board with bringing Bradford back and he could be the starter in 2015:
The Oklahoma product was an injury concern coming out of college due to some shoulder issues during his final season with the Sooners.
He ended up starting all 16 games during an up-and-down rookie year. In the four seasons that have followed, however, he's only played in 33 of a possible 64 games. That instability has made it tough for St. Louis to contend in perhaps the NFL's toughest division, the NFC West.
Bradford did show flashes of progress last season. He completed better than 60 percent of his throws and had 14 touchdowns in seven games before going down with a torn ACL in his left knee.
The Rams have apparently seen enough positive strides to give him another chance, though. That's assuming the contract situation doesn't create an issue as they begin looking toward 2015.
