Aaron Rodgers Takes a Knee, Kills Fantasy Football Dreams

Jesse PantuoscoDec 9, 2014

Let's get one thing straight: Your fantasy team means nothing to Aaron Rodgers.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback just couldn't resist testing fate Monday night against the Atlanta Falcons.

With one second left and Green Bay leading by six points, the Packers had several options. They could have extended their lead by attempting a 29-yard field goal, or they could have simply run out the clock by throwing it to the back of the end zone.

Instead, Rodgers chose a third option. To the horror of fantasy owners everywhere, he took a knee. The kneel cost Rodgers four yards, dropping his nightly total from 32 rushing yards to 28.

Predictably, fantasy chaos ensued.

Twitter user Matt Brigidi was not pleased with the outcome:

Come on, Aaron. How could you betray Jay Galloway like that? You were his first-round pick!

Welcome to the club, Brandon. Also, you may want to consider charging your iPhone—it's at 13 percent:

But of all the fantasy players done in by Rodgers' senseless act, Joseph Norfleet's story has to be the most heartbreaking. Norfleet overcame a 51-point deficit, only to have Rodgers cruelly deny him on the final play:

On the flip side, some fantasy owners were actually quite pleased with Rodgers' decision to take a knee. The four-yard loss allowed Instagram user raulito492 to win his matchup by the slimmest of margins. Take a look:

Rodgers hasn't addressed the situation yet, but if he does, he'll probably tell everyone to "R-E-L-A-X" (via ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky). After all, Rodgers still put up 27 fantasy points in standard ESPN leagues

Maybe this losing fantasy owner should point a finger at Rashad Jennings instead of Rodgers. Jennings only scored two points against Tennessee's 30th-ranked defense on Sunday:
