Man City vs. Bayern Munich: Goals, Highlights from Champions League Match

Ryan BaileyNov 25, 2014

Manchester City fans started their crunch tie against Bayern Munich booing the Champions League anthem. In the 20th minute, the mood changed dramatically as the home side took the lead and the German champions went down to 10 men.

En route to goal, Sergio Aguero was felled by Medhi Benatia, who was given a straight red card for preventing a clear goal-scoring opportunity.

The Argentinean took the resulting spot kick himself and made no mistake against World Cup-winning goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

In the 39th minute, the Bavarians put themselves back in the game with an excellent Xabi Alonso daisy-cutter free kick.

Even though Joe Hart may have done better, it was an excellent way for the Spaniard to mark his 33rd birthday.

A minute before the half time whistle, City conceded their second goal to 10-man Bayern when Robert Lewandowski edged past Bacary Sagna and Vincent Kompany to nod in an Arjen Robben cross.

It looked as if the Citizens were facing disappointment up until the 86th minute, when Aguero punished a rare Alonso mistake with a cool finish inside Neuer's left post.

In the 91st minute, City stole victory from the jaws of defeat when the magnificent Aguero broke through the Bayern back line to complete his hat-trick.

It was a memorable evening for Kun, who clearly knows a thing or two about scoring vital stoppage time goals in important matches.

City are now level on points with CSKA Moscow and Roma, and will advance if they beat the Italians and the Russians lose in Germany.
