Cam Newton Ties Panthers Record with Interception in 7 Straight Games
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton matched an unwanted franchise record in Sunday's 19-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, throwing at least one interception in a seventh consecutive game, per ESPN Stats & Info.
After throwing eight picks over his previous six games, Newton wasted little time matching the franchise-record streak compiled by Steve Beuerlein (2000) and Jake Delhomme (2003-2004).
Newton's third pass attempt of Sunday's game went in the direction of tight end Greg Olsen, who was covered closely by Falcons safety Dwight Lowery along the left sideline on a 3rd-and-6. The ball deflected off Olsen's hands, bouncing over his head and into the hands of safety Kemal Ishmael.

1 Sentence Describing Every NFL Team's Nightmare Scenario 😱
The interception cost Carolina a chance to pin the Falcons back with a punt, but the Panthers defense then came up with a quick three-and-out, which was followed by a long field-goal drive from Newton and the offense.
Newton would later throw a second interception at the beginning of the third quarter, setting the Falcons up with an easy field goal to take a 9-3 lead, following the 19-yard return by cornerback Desmond Trufant.
Newton rebounded to toss a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns to take the lead, and he finished the game with 23 completions for 292 yards on 39 pass attempts.
He also drove the Panthers into range for a go-ahead, 46-yard field-goal attempt in the final 90 seconds, only to watch reliable kicker Graham Gano come up with a rare miss at the worst possible time.
Carolina surprisingly got back in range for Gano to try a 63-yarder as time expired, but the desperation kick was blocked by Falcons rookie Ra'Shede Hageman.
Newton has now thrown 10 interceptions over his last seven games, with the Panthers sporting an ugly 1-5-1 record over that span, which includes losses in each of the last five weeks.
Though now just 3-7-1 on the season, the Panthers enter a Week 12 bye with some hope of making the playoffs in a dreadful NFC South.
