Mark Sanchez Gets Philly Cheesesteaks with Fans After Beating Panthers
Mark Sanchez achieved professional and personal nirvana Monday night.
The Philadelphia Eagles backup quarterback capitalized on his first starting opportunity in the NFL since December 2012, throwing for 332 yards, two touchdowns and zero interceptions in a blowout 45-21 win over the Carolina Panthers on Monday Night Football.
And then he feasted, as Sanchez is wont to do.

ABC 6 in Philadelphia was on the scene when Sanchez met up with fans for Philly cheesesteaks after the game.
It was a promise kept for Sanchez, who told ESPN’s Jon Gruden during a pregame interview that he had yet to eat a Philly cheesesteak while in Philadelphia. He said he planned to remedy this unforgivable misstep at either Pat’s or Geno’s after the game—if the Eagles won.
Philadelphia did win, and Sanchez—insatiable as they come—decided to wolf down cheesesteaks at both restaurants. Fans waiting for his arrival flooded him with cheese fries and adulation, and somewhere in this greasy "brotherly love-fest," Sanchez’s life hit a serious high.
To give you an idea of Sanchez's mood after beating the Panthers, he may have eaten cheese fries with a used fork.
CrossingBroad.com has the video:
"Did you use this fork already?" Sanchez asked the benevolent fry fairy. "Are you sure?"
Food and public approval are Sanchez’s two favorite things, in that order. So for a man who likely duct taped almanacs to his rib cage just to safely stand in line at the deli in New York, receiving a warm welcome and a cheesesteak is a personal victory.
Genos—in so many ways—are the reason the former New York Jet is eating so well right now.
Sanchez told The Associated Press, via ESPN.com, after the game that he's made strides since his time with the Jets and hopes to continue tightening up his play.
"After playing for a while, you learn a lot," Sanchez said. "I've made plenty of mistakes and hurt the team. The most important thing was taking care of the football, communicating well and executing. If we do that, generally we'll be successful. There are still plenty of things to clean up though. By no means was this perfect."
The Eagles will travel to Green Bay on Sunday for a tough showdown in the cold. Chip Kelly’s team will need to continue its transcendent defensive play to pick up a win on the road.
Of course, they’ll also need to turn Sanchez loose on an improving but beatable Green Bay secondary. Sometimes, you’ve got to let the Sancheeze eat.
