WWE 2K15: Roster Info and New Modes Preview

Brian MaziqueOct 27, 2014

For the next 30 days or so, WWE will take center stage on the sports video game scene. On Tuesday, Oct. 28, WWE 2K15 will release for the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Three weeks later, on Nov. 18, the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One versions will hit stores.

Per WWE Games, the rosters will be identical for both games.

You can see the Superstars and the Divas included here. Most of the modes will be available on both systems, but each will have a feature that is exclusive.

MyCareer

The MyCareer concept was popularized by the NBA 2K franchise. This is the second year 2K Sports has held the WWE license, but WWE 2K15 is the first version that will feature MyCareer. It is exclusive to the PS4 and XB 1.

For those who aren't familiar with the mode's principles, it allows a gamer to create a player—or a Superstar in the WWE Universe—that they can guide throughout an entire career.

Such modes have existed before in WWE games, but what separates MyCareer from some of those previous features is the role-playing aspects.

In WWE 2K15, your created Superstar will have to choose a side of the fence to fight on (heel or face), and you will be faced with several decisions that shape your career. Things begin in the WWE's developmental organization, NXT.

If you're successful, you'll be able to ascend to levels that have your Superstar headlining pay-per-views and potentially reaching the WWE Hall of Fame. Perhaps the most unique and awesome feature is the ability to import up to five of your friends' MyCareer Superstars into your experience.

It's called "Invasion," and it could revolutionize the MyCareer concept.

At a random time, the imported Superstars will invade your MyCareer experience as a friend or a foe. If executed properly, this element could add great spontaneous value to the mode.

Who Got NXT and Proving Ground

MyCareer won't be included in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, but the all-new Who Got NXT mode will be. It centers around five current and future stars of NXT: Bo Dallas, Rusev, Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville and Corey Graves.

Gamers will be tasked with winning four matches with each Superstar. Each match has specific objectives that must be met in order to advance and unlock every item available.

Once you have completed all four chapters of the Who Got NXT mode, the Proving Ground match becomes available. It functions very similar to the Beat the Streak mode from WWE 2K14

In last year's game, gamers were tasked with defeating an ultradifficult version of The Undertaker. In the Proving Ground match, your chosen NXT Superstar will battle a souped-up version of John Cena. Defeating Cena with all five NXT Superstars will produce a special set of unlockables.

Per senior producer Bryan Williams, making Cena submit will produce a special surprise. Overall, it's good to see that 2K Sports didn't completely neglect the current-generation version of the game.

This gives WWE gamers on all levels something to look forward to.
