Curry Injures Ankle vs. Pistons, X-Rays Negative

The Golden State Warriors could be down a "Splash Brother."

According to Diamond Leung of Bay Area News Group, Stephen Curry suffered an ankle injury in the Warriors' win over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday:

Following the victory, Curry underwent an X-ray, which came back negative:

Early in his career, questions lingered as to Curry's durability. He missed 40 games during the lockout-shortened 2011-12 season while dealing with ankle problems and eventually had arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle in April 2012.

Since that season, however, Curry has remained relatively healthy, missing only eight regular-season games over the last two years.

Although the Warriors underwhelmed in 2013-14, the All-Star point guard posted some of the best numbers of his career. He averaged 24 points on .471 shooting and 8.5 assists. You can see below how his advanced metrics stacked up as well, per Basketball-Reference.com.

In a way, the team's refusal to part with Klay Thompson (and their subsequent contract extension) as part of a potential Kevin Love deal was also an investment in Curry. Management believes that the team as currently constructed, with Curry acting as the spearhead, is good enough to win a title, or at the very least finish near the top of the Western Conference.

At 26 years old, Curry is very much in his prime. In order for the Warriors to take the next step in their development, he must ascend and truly become one of the best players in the league.
