Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay's NFL-mandated banishment from the organization is nearly over.

Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star gets even more specific with the time frame:

Irsay was suspended for six games and fined $500,000 by the NFL in September after he pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated.

The suspension stemmed from a March 16, 2014, incident in Carmel, Indiana, where he was arrested "on four preliminary felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and two misdemeanor counts of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in the body," according to The Indianapolis Star.

Irsay told The Star's Bob Kravitz in June 2014 that he has been dealing with alcoholism and addiction, saying:

"

It's an ongoing thing in one's life when recovering from any disease. The disease never sleeps so you have to be proactive when dealing with it. But the journey is great because it forced you to grow spiritually. There's a lot of gratitude and spiritual growth. And it's rewarding because it makes you more virtuous when you have success.

"

During his current suspension, Irsay was not permitted to have any involvement with the Colts, and he was also prohibited from the use of social media as it related to the team or the NFL.

Following the announcement of the suspension, Irsay released a statement in which he vowed to put the incident behind him, per Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com:

"

I acknowledge the mistake I made last March and stand responsible for the consequences of that mistake, for which I sincerely apologize to our community and to Colts fans everywhere. Even more importantly, though, I am committed to do everything in my power to turn this whole experience into a positive event for myself, my family and the community.

"

The Colts are 3-2 after starting the season 0-2, and they have an opportunity to take control of first place in the AFC South if they can defeat the 3-2 Texans.
