WWE Hell in a Cell 2014: Predicting Winners for All Projected Title Matches
At the moment, there are no title matches announced for the 2014 WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
However, just because WWE hasn't gotten around to promoting anything official yet doesn't mean that the company is planning on following Night of Champions with an event where no titles are defended.
Several feuds appear to be leading to title matches, so while nothing is set in stone, it's still possible to speculate on what the end results will be.
In the span of the last two months, every title except for the United States Championship has changed hands as least once if not more frequently.
Could Hell in a Cell see the crowning of some new champions, or will this turn out to be a show where nothing is changed and the status quo is maintained?
Let's attempt to predict not only the matches that we will see involving these championships but also who will leave the event wearing the gold.
WWE Tag Team Championship
1 of 5
WWE has not hinted at a new feud for Goldust and Stardust, but rather just a continuation of their program with The Usos.
If a rematch takes place featuring these two teams, the most logical outcome will be the Cosmic Twins retaining.
While The Usos had a good reign with the belts, WWE stands to gain nothing by giving them the titles back as opposed to keeping them on the Rhodes brothers.
Since they are still relatively new as champions, Goldust and Stardust have more potential programs to build around their defenses in comparison to The Usos, who have feuded with most teams already.
Assuming the match ends up being Goldust and Stardust against The Usos and doesn't include anyone else, look for the champions to be victorious.
WWE Divas Championship
2 of 5
In the past few months, the Divas Championship has been passed between AJ Lee and Paige numerous times, even when the current champion appeared to be a lock to retain.
Because of this, almost anything is up for grabs at Hell in a Cell.
For now, it seems as though the Bella Twins are not going to be folded into the title picture for this event, but rather will face off in a singles match. This is probably an attempt to bulk out the number of matches on the card due to Brock Lesnar's absence and Roman Reigns' injury.
AJ Lee is still interacting with Paige on television, which means all signs point to yet another match between the two.
There still is a possibility that Nikki Bella, Brie Bella or both are granted access into a title bout through a Fatal 4-Way match or something of the sort, but the smart bet is on a singles match taking place.
Lee and Paige have been the only champions since June of 2013, trading the title back and forth with no interruptions.
While there is nothing stopping WWE from putting the title back on Paige and continuing the hot-potato trend, it does have to cool down eventually.
Hell in a Cell is a good chance for just that to happen by having Lee keep the belt around her waist.
Survivor Series, on the other hand, could be the time for Nikki Bella to step up and claim the Divas Championship for herself, rendering Lee's reign more of a transitional one. Still, it appears as though the Bella Twins will sit this event out.
WWE United States Championship
3 of 5
The Intercontinental and United States Championship feuds have apparently switched things up, and instead of Cesaro continuing his feud with Sheamus, The Miz has taken that spot.
The Miz has the ability to defeat Sheamus due to interference from Damien Mizdow or some other form of cheating, since he is a credible enough heel to hold gold at virtually any time.
However, after winning the Intercontinental Championship from Dolph Ziggler at Night of Champions and dropping it back to him the next night, it's unlikely a similar outcome will take place.
Sheamus has been champion since May and for the most part has rarely been in danger of losing the title.
Not only could challengers such as Bray Wyatt face Sheamus for the title, but there is also an incredibly easy feud to book with Rusev that WWE should not ignore.
The Celtic Warrior is not infallible, but he has been booked in recent weeks as the superior to The Miz, and not in a way that suggests a shock title change at Hell in a Cell.
If the United States Championship match ends up being Sheamus vs. The Miz, the odds are in the current champion's favor.
WWE Intercontinental Championship
4 of 5
Since The Miz and Cesaro switched championships to contest, the current feud surrounding the Intercontinental Championship pits Dolph Ziggler against The King of Swing.
Hell in a Cell can easily go down with no new champions, but if there is a change of some sort, Cesaro has a better chance than anyone else to be the catalyst for it.
After his WrestleMania XXX win during the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, Cesaro's push came screeching to a halt, and he has not since recovered his previous momentum.
Winning the Intercontinental Championship is not a guaranteed fix to that problem, let alone an instant cure, but it would be a step in the right direction.
Ziggler should lose the title so soon yet again if WWE is serious about attempting to add more credibility to the championship, as Ziggler has mentioned numerous times in various promos for the past several months. Still, with the way things have been booked lately and the many belts that have been passed back and forth, Cesaro poses a huge threat to Ziggler's reign.
If there are any title changes that take place at Hell in a Cell, this would be the match to look out for, but the edge goes to Ziggler to retain for the same reasons why AJ Lee as well as Goldust and Stardust should be keeping their respective championships.
It would do more immediate harm to Ziggler and the Intercontinental Championship for him to lose than good for Cesaro to win it, unless WWE has plans on actually putting in the effort to make The Swiss Superman a legitimate star again.
WWE World Heavyweight Championship
5 of 5
It appears as though there won't be any WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at this event, which could greatly hurt the show in many different ways.
Without Brock Lesnar's appearance, WWE loses out on the appeal that he brings to the card.
On top of that, forcing Dean Ambrose and John Cena to pull double duty could lead to anything from boring matches (where they keep things slow so as to not get tired) to possible injuries (from being worked too hard).
In either situation, while Lesnar would retain the championship, there are truly no winners in the WWE Universe.
No Lesnar means no cash-in from Seth Rollins, either, so fans hoping to see that happen will be guaranteed their fair share of disappointment from that alone.
If by some chance there is a title match added onto this card, it can be assumed that Lesnar would retain against any opponent he is put up against.
Nothing points to Lesnar dropping the title anytime soon, whether it be at Hell in a Cell or soon after on Raw or possibly even Survivor Series. With the booking of this event so far, those who are predicting Lesnar as the champion going into November should not be worried.
Who do you think will walk away with gold at Hell in a Cell? Are any titles going to change hands, or are the champions safe for another pay-per-view?
