WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Randy Orton, Hell in a Cell and More
The latest WWE rumors explore where Randy Orton fits into the Hell in a Cell landscape and what officials have in mind for him going forward.
Backstage reports suggest that he may be left out of the spotlight at the upcoming pay-per-view despite hanging around the periphery of the feud between Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose. Various possibilities appear to still be in play, including having Orton undergo a shift in personality.
Other rumors center around NXT and Bray Wyatt.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
A recent report gives fans reason to believe that Hideo Itami and Finn Balor will be promoted soon. As for Wyatt, a cryptic tweet had fans salivating at a possible career-making match for Wyatt. That's one rumor, though, that has carried little weight.
Hell in a Cell Plans
There are no official matches on the Hell in a Cell card as of yet. It looks as if WWE isn't sure what it wants to do about the show's main event, even with a no-brainer choice in front of it.
Rollins vs. Ambrose in a Hell in a Cell is a classic waiting to happen.
Still, officials are toying with other ideas. According to PWInsider Elite (subscription required) (h/t Wrestling Inc), WWE is considering having either Cena or Ambrose battle Rollins at Hell in a Cell. The report notes that there may be a match on Raw beforehand with the winner earning the right to fight Rollins and the loser possibly taking on Orton.
Should Ambrose defeat Cena en route to Rollins, it greatly bolsters his career. That's one heck of a notch on the belt.
If Cena wins in this scenario, however, WWE would be robbing itself of the spoils of a great climax to the best feud going right now. Cena taking on Orton at the pay-per-view lower down the card has little appeal despite the star power involved.
That's a combo WWE has turned to so often in the past that it's hard to pumped about it.
A Fatal 4-Way between Orton, Cena, Rollins and Ambrose is a strong possibility, although it wasn't mentioned in the above report. It would be ideal to leave Ambrose and Rollins a one-on-one clash. If WWE is looking for another option, though, having all four of those battle to be the No. 1 contender is a good second choice.
The Viper No More?
Regardless of what happens at Hell in a Cell, Rollins may not have Orton by his side for long. A change is apparently in the works.
F4WOnline reports (subscription required) (h/t Wrestling Inc) that officials are reportedly planning on turning Orton babyface in the next few months.
While Orton is more of a natural heel, this move makes sense. The roster is lacking in top babyfaces especially without Daniel Bryan, Roman Reigns and CM Punk. Turning Orton gives them another fan favorite option near the top.

It also offers up a possible opponent for Brock Lesnar.
Orton is among the few challengers who would feel like they could hold their own in there against The Beast Incarnate. He'd be a good setup for whatever WWE decides for Lesnar at WrestleMania.
The turn wouldn't come out of nowhere either.
There have been signs of dissension between Orton and The Authority lately. He's expressed annoyance about having to clean up Rollins' messes. He's also never received the one-on-one title shot Triple H has been promising to him.
The seeds are planted should WWE want Orton's babyface turn to sprout.
NXT Call-Ups Reportedly Coming Soon
Fans of Itami (formerly KENTA) and Balor (formerly Prince Devitt) may not need to wait long to see those two men battling on Raw and SmackDown. Their time in WWE developmental is expected to be short.
According to F4WOnline (h/t PW Mania) Finn Balor and Hideo Itami are expected to bypass most of the prospects at WWE developmental in moving up to the main roster.
It's not as if either of these wrestlers need to learn the craft of pro wrestling. They have been major stars in Japan for years and are among the most exciting performers in the industry.
NXT should act as a place for them to get adjusted to the WWE style and begin the process of introducing them to casual fans.
That's what WWE reportedly seems to be planning on doing. It's sure to anger a guy like CJ Parker, who has been struggling to get up the NXT ladder for years. He has to understand, though, that some prospects are blue-chippers.
And blue-chippers don't need to hang around Full Sail University for long.
A Stretch of the Imagination Involving Bray Wyatt and Sting
As Wyatt is known to do, he spoke in riddles. That led to speculation aplenty.
Wyatt tweeted:
The use of the word "scorpion" here had some folks believing that this was a tease for a future match against Sting. As wise as it would be to have The Eater of Worlds be the one to face Sting in his potential first and last WrestleMania match, there's no secret message here.
To say that this tweet was a reference to Sting would be using a ton of imagination, coloring the evidence with one's own hopes.
When Wyatt spoke of a king back in April, it wasn't a preview of a match with Triple H or Jerry Lawler. It was simply a use of figurative language. The "Sting" tweet is in the same category.
As much as WWE de-emphasized Wyatt as of late, it's hard to imagine the company selecting him for what would be Sting's only WWE match.
Wyatt couldn't even get on the Night of Champions card; Facing The Icon at WrestleMania would require quite a journey in the next few months.
