The Rise of NXT Will Benefit John Cena's Run as WWE's Top Star
John Cena is WWE's top star, its No. 1 talent and standard-bearer. For over 10 years, WWE has built its storylines and ongoing weekly drama around Cena and everything that he is. The two are inseparable, and one is synonymous with the other.
But his issues with having the full support of the crowd at times seem to be growing more complicated by the week.
Try as it might, WWE just cannot seem to get past the crowd's hate of Cena and his struggles with maintaining the respect that he has earned in the ring.

However, the rise of NXT may actually benefit Cena more than anyone even realizes.
WWE's developmental system has really caught fire as of late. Thanks to the recent signings of Fergal Devitt, Kenta and Kevin Steen, there is more attention on Florida than ever before. With guys like Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville and Tyler Breeze, there can be no doubt that WWE's future is in good hands.

That future could have an immediate impact on the present and Cena, who is busy carrying WWE while the NXT stars are still working to gain a foothold in the company.
The direct correlation between the two may not be that apparent, but the fact is that much of the animosity leveled at Cena likely has to do with the fact that he really is the only game in town.
Randy Orton is a top star, but he has been somewhat absorbed into The Authority and distracted from the main event.
Roman Reigns appeared to have been on his way to that lofty status, and for many fans, he is the heir apparent to Cena. But a recent injury has sidelined Reigns for the next few months, so he is not a factor at this time.
Dean Ambrose is getting red-hot right now and definitely seems to be on his way up the main event ladder in the company. However, he has just begun trying to establish himself as a singles star and WWE would be wise to allow him the opportunity to grow and evolve at the right pace.

Brock Lesnar is the WWE world heavyweight champion and one of the fiercest competitors to ever step into a WWE ring. However, he's not there all time. He has been used exclusively on pay-per-view, and as a result, the title is only up for grabs once a month.
Add to that the fact that Chris Jericho is gone once again and Daniel Bryan is still out with an injury, and suddenly WWE's main event scene has grown very thin indeed.
The only man who seems to be left is Cena, and that could be a huge reason why he's hated so much.
Basically, he's the same song and dance every week. He never changes and has shown no signs of doing so at any point. In fact, WWE seems determined to keep him right where he is.
However, with the advent of NXT, there is some light at the end of the tunnel for Cena.
As stars are called up to the main roster, Cena will find himself with some serious new company. After all, Ambrose is on his way and eventually will be on that main event level full time. When that happens, his spot will likely be taken by a guy like Zayn.
The Ascension is believed by many to be the next tag team to come from NXT, and if that is the case, then that division will be strengthened more than ever.
Charlotte is currently the NXT women's champion, but when her time comes to make the jump, she could very well turn the Divas division upside down and reinvent it from the ground up.
All of this could potentially bode very well for Bray Wyatt and The Wyatt Family, former NXT standouts who have had some success in WWE but are really at something of a standstill. New stars with new storylines could draw them back in and breathe new life into their characters.
Cena could eventually be surrounded by NXT stars, and for many fans, that could be a bad thing for him.
After all, wouldn't Cena be threatened by this new wave of talent? Would he not be concerned about his spot and be fearful that one of those stars could take it from him?
The exact opposite could happen, though. Cena may continue at the top and all of this new talent would do nothing but improve his character's quality of life in the company. Again, he is the only game in town as it pertains to the main event scene, and that has likely only increased the fans' hatred of him.
But with fresh faces come more opportunities for Cena to perhaps be seen as the leader of the company instead of its only established top-tier star.
He could do what so many fans already believe he already does behind the scenes: lead the company. While Cena's critics will always exist, his possible sharing of the spotlight could cause him to be viewed in another way altogether.
Cena surely wants his spot, as does any Superstar in WWE. To believe that he is not human and not concerned at all with his position in the company seems ridiculous at best. With that said, if WWE grows and establishes new stars, then the fact is that fanbase could grow as well.
That equals more money coming in and more stability for the company as a whole.
To believe that Cena, as the top guy, does not want that is just foolish at best. NXT's rise in popularity will help Cena's run at the top, and the fun will come in watching it all unfold.
