Campbell Undergoes Successful Surgery

Tuesday, Feb. 10

Darren Urban of AzCardinals.com reported that Campbell has undergone successful surgery on his sports hernia:

"

But he needed downtime. Suffering a sports hernia he played with during the season, Campbell finally had surgery last week. Tuesday, he was at the Cardinals’ facility — coming into the team’s temporary weight room/training room/locker room set up in the practice bubble while upgrades are being done in the permanent areas — and looked pretty good all things considered.

“The first couple of days I couldn’t walk,” said Campbell, who seemed OK as he came into the bubble. “It’s still a little painful to walk but I’m getting there.”

Campbell expects to be fine when the team has offseason workouts in a couple of months.

Campbell Needs Hernia Surgery

Monday, Jan. 26

Arizona Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell will be going under the knife in an effort to get healthy for next season, as the 28-year-old defensive end will undergo surgery to repair a sports hernia.

Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com revealed the news and provided a statement from Campbell discussing the recovery: "Defensive end Calais Campbell said he will have to have surgery post-Pro Bowl to fix a sports hernia that was bothering him the last few weeks of the season. 'It’s an easy recovery,' Campbell said."

Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports 910 reported who will conduct the surgery:

Jurecki also reported that the recovery time is four-to-six weeks.

One of the most underrated stars in the league, Campbell finally made the Pro Bowl this season after a campaign that saw the Cardinals star rack up seven sacks and a forced fumble in 14 games.

Campbell was a major reason behind Arizona's dominance on the defensive side of the ball in 2014, as the Cardinals cracked the playoffs for the first time since 2009, only to be derailed by injuries and the Carolina Panthers in the Wild Card Round.

After a season in which Campbell got the recognition he deserves, the Cardinals will be hoping that he can come back in 2015 stronger than ever as Arizona looks to push on after taking a big step forward this season.
