I signed up because I've seen so many ill-informed and impatient reports from Raider fans. I now live in San Francisco, but I was born and raised in Louisiana. I watched every game JaMarcus played at LSU. I won't get into a thing with all you west coast fans, but the SEC is clearly the class of college football. JaMarcus' junior season reads like this:
67% completion ratio.
8int's or 9...I'm too tired to look it up.
Here's the thing...all this speculation that Russell can't throw accurately or that he can't put touch on the ball is HOGWASH! You are misinformed and flat out wrong if you believe that. Any of you critics every consider that it might be hard to complete a pass to receivers who can't get separation? That it might be hard to throw when you're getting hit at the moment you plant on a 5 or 7 step drop?
It's been said before and I'll say it again. Any other franchise quarterback with a 15td to 12 int ratio at this point in their career should not be getting the criticism this kid has received. It's a racial issue. I guess since he's black he should be more mobile. I guess since he's black we shouldn't expect him to learn a playbook or absorb his options on any given play?
If you surround this guy with talent, which it appears is slowly happening, and you protect him, he will shred NFL defenses. He is a winner! He is a competitor. He doesn't have to get up on a training table and yell to lead men. I prefer quiet, and cool myself. I don't need a cheerleader in my huddle. I'll take a Brady clone...calm...efficient.
Raider fans if you don't like JaMarcus, then I suggest you take a 10 year sabbatical. Like it or not, he's your franchise quarterback and he should be! I have all the respect in the world for Jeff Garcia. If JaMarcus gets hurt, Garcia will be a fine replacement. Otherwise, he should NOT see the field. Get behind this kid. He's gonna make you proud.
By the way, I've never liked or disliked the Raiders, but when they drafted JaMarcus, I immediately purchased season tickets. I put my money where my mouth is. Peace out Raider nation.
