LeBron James: Why He Is Overrated

Martin LongJul 4, 2009

LeBron James is an amazing talent, yes a very skilled player, but is he great?

James likes to compare himself to the greats of Basketball, such as: Larry Bird and Michael Jordan, two of the greatest to ever play the game of Basketball.

Although I think LeBron is good, there is one thing that frustrates me to no end. That one thing is the way LeBron claims he is the best, the greatest and unstoppable.

LeBron James is none of the three. He is good but not great and definitely not unstoppable, as we have seen over the past five years.

The thing that sets apart the good from the great is the way that they both play. The great players, like Jordan and Bird, come to every game and give 110% and step up and perform in the most clutch-est of situations.

James comes to every game and performs better than most, no doubt, but does he give 110%? I don't think so, check the Magic series. Does he perform in clutch situations? No, check the Magic series. (Also check previous playoff appreances)

In every sport people are going to talk trash, the greatest aren't always the ones who silently go about their business, but be the ones who back their words up with action and results. Something LeBron James has failed to do in each of his five seasons in the league.

Many people like to place the blame on LeBron's teammate's and claim that one man cannot win a championship. Yes it is right one man cannot win a championship, but LeBron is surrounded by talent, Ben Wallace, Mo Williams and Zydrunas Ilgauskas. All which are very talented players.

There is no excuse for LeBron not to win and win big, Kobe's done it and Wade did it with practically just Shaquille O'Neal in 2006.

I believe if Kobe Bryant or Dwayne Wade was put on the Cavaliers this year, they would win a championship, easily.

For all those who don't believe me and brush this off as rubbish, wait till LeBron is signed to the Knicks.

Then you will all understand how overrated he really is.
