There was a time when speculation told us that Affliction was considering putting their third, and possibly final show, up against UFC 100.

Whether there was any truth to that speculation is now irrelevant.

UFC 100 will go down on July 11 while Affliction: Trilogy will happen August 1. And for the record, their third fight card will not be their last.

So, while the UFC 100 vs. Affliction: Trilogy is not a battle of head-to-head PPV’s, it is a segue into which card is more stacked. While UFC 100 appears the apparent answer, let’s do it up MMA style and pit one fight against the other.

Main Event

Brock Lesnar-Frank Mir vs. Fedor Emelianenko-Josh Barnett

While a lot of MMA fans would love to see the winners of these two fights clash, that won't happen. These four fighters are the top four ranked divisional heavyweights in all of MMA—which makes both fights equally interesting.

Lesnar looks to exact revenge upon Mir, who holds the only win over Lesnar in his short career.

Whoever emerges will be known as the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion. As for the other fight, it’s an epic fight between two friends that is years in the making, with the winner most likely considered the top heavyweight in the sport today.

Co-Main Event

George St. Pierre-Alves vs. Renato Sobral-Gegard Mousasi

In another tough battle, we have a welterweight title fight going up against an exciting light heavyweight fight. St. Pierre is looking to defend his belt for the third time against an opponent in Alves who many consider his toughest test to date.

With a win, St. Pierre could position himself into a super fight with Anderson Silva.

Sobral is sharp veteran who most consider a top 10 light heavyweight fighter.

Mousasi is a young phenomenon who many consider to be the best young fighter in all of MMA. This will be Mousasi’s first official fight as both light heavyweight and in the United States. A win for him would catapult him into the consciousness of all MMA fans.

Rest of the Card (that counts)

Michael Bisping-Dan Henderson vs. Vitor Belfort vs. Jorge Santiago

Jon Fitch vs. Paulo Thiago vs. Paul Buentello vs. Gilbert Yvel

Yoshihiro Akiyama-Alan Belcher vs. Paul Daley vs. Jay Hieron

Jon Jones vs. Jake O'Brien* vs. Chris Horodecki-Dan Lauzon

So there you have the top six fights on each card doing battle. Now its time for you to decide which has the bettter top heavy fight card. UFC 100 or Affliction: Trilogy.

*UFC 100 clearly has a better undercard so Jones vs. O'Brien was chosen to represent the undercard in this match-up. If you disagree, feel free to pick another fight.
