Growing up in Orange County i had the Rams in Anaheim and the Raiders in Los Angeles. I really didn't like either of those teams and when they moved i really did not care.

When i was young i actually loved the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and those awesome orange uniforms. The Days of Trent Dilfer, Eric Rhett, a young Warren Sapp, and a young Derrick Brooks had me hooked.

When i was growing up i really didn't even know the Chargers existed until they beat the Steelers in 1995 playoffs to go to the Superbowl. After watching them get stomped on by the 49ers i lost interest(keep in mind i was only 9).

Five years later i went to my first professional football game, it was the Chargers and the Saints in San Diego. At this time the Chargers were not even close to the team they are now. San Diego often finished with a losing record, while i love Doug Flutie he was not the solution.

Every year since then i have gone to a Chargers game. Every year the game i attend has been very exciting.

The one player however that really drew me in was without a doubt Ladainian Tomlinson. Watching him from his senior year in college to this point in his career has been amazing. I can confidently say without Ladainian Tomlinson i might have never become a true Charger fan.

I think the best game i ever attended was a game between the Broncos and Chargers in 2002. It was a 30-27 victory for the Chargers in overtime. The real story of the game was LT and Clinton Portis. LT and Portis combined for 379 yards rushing, 85 yards receiving and 5 touchdowns.

Watching that game was one of the more amazing things i have ever seen. Every time one of the teams had the ball their running back made a huge play. Watching two of the premier backs in the league go toe to toe is not something you get to see every day.

While LT did outperform Portis on that day i still will never forget the way either one performed.

Finally i love the Chargers because i love Southern California. The Chargersare the lone ambassadorsto NFL from Southern California. San Diego is a great city with great fans and every game i have ever been to has been packed, even when the Chargers sucked.

For the past few seasons the Chargers have not quite lived up to the hype but have still produced decent results. Hopefully this year will be the year the Chargers bring the first Championship to the City of San Diego.
