Kenan Thompson Obliges with Knucklepuck on 'Crowd Goes Wild,' Nostalgia Ensues

Gabe ZaldivarPop Culture Lead WriterNovember 12, 2016

Like Rick Vaughn's heater or Happy Gilmore's drive, there is hardly a more beautiful instance of a sport's athletic prowess than Russ Tyler's "knucklepuck," and we got to see it once again.

They are doing big things over on Crowd Goes Wild.

They recently had Mike Tyson on to throw a couple of bull's-eyes while blindfolded, and now welcome Kenan Thompson on the set to slap a knucklepuck 19 years after D2: The Mighty Ducks.

For the Win spotted this video that features Saturday Night Live cast member Thompson. Katie Nolan really just has one question for him: Will he attempt the knucklepuck?

For those uninitiated, take a gander at this moment from the movie. For the rest of you, just sit back and wash in the gentle waters of nostalgia.

Again, there is no defending the indefensible. I like to think in an alternate universe that Thompson's character is racking up goals with this slap shot in the NHL.

As for this attempt, we will look past the initial awkwardness of trying to get the puck to stand up and forgive the lazy manner in which the puck finds the net.

The knucklepuck is still a childhood treasure, and this chance encounter on the daily sports show only reinforces that sentiment.

When you have Thompson on as a guest, of course you get him to flash some of that hockey skill. Now excuse us as we offer up some suggestions for future guests.

Becky "Icebox" O'Shea needs to stop by and show off her tackling power, Henry Rowengartner needs to schedule an appearance and toss some fastballs, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt needs to make a cameo just to remind us that he starred in Angels in the Outfield

If you could get cracking on that list, that would be great.
