In Some Way, Thanks Bernie Madoff for the New York Mets Not Having Manny
First, I want to start the article by saying to the Dodger fans "sorry for your loss".
I bet some Mets fans will still say yes, we want Manny. Even though, he is a cheater, he is one of the best players in baseball. He is the reason why the Dodgers made the playoffs last year, and he was a great clubhouse guy and leader in LA.
But I am happy the Mets did not get him, I do not want a cheater on my team. I don't really enjoy rooting for a person that cheats.
And as much as this is going to hurt, there are three men we need to say thanks to, they are the reason Manny is not a Met. And these three guys are- Bernie Madoff and the Wilpons. I know lots of you guys may find this article cheesy as I wrote a article about a month ago about how to blame Madoff for all New Yorks sports problems (link).
But now, we need to say thanks to Bernie for stealing all of the Wilpons $300 million that may be the reason Manny is not in New York. I still think he is a jerk, but I think that out of all of his damage and crap came out one good thing.
Think about it, before a big Mets-Phillies game on a Thursday afternoon the Mets get news that Dodger star Left Fielder Manny Ramirez is going to be suspended for 50 games due to drug use. Would you Mets fans be happy? The Mets would be all dependent on Manny and he would be out on suspension and leave the Mets all alone.
For New York Giants fans you remember how Plax shot himself and left the Giants to dry with losing their top WR. That is kind of what Manny just did to LA.
And Yankee fans know the feeling going through the Dodgers fans heads as they felt the same thing this spring as it was announced that A-Rod took steroids and was going to be out for four weeks due to injury.
So Mets fans, be happy! Thanks to Madoff the Mets did not get in to the Manny mess.
