Tottenham Transfer Rumours: 5 Attacking Targets Linked to AVB's Spurs
As this season draws to a close, Tottenham head into the summer still in need of reinforcements in the attacking third.
Many different players have been linked to the London side, and signings for certain positions will definitely be a priority for the club.
Whether it's players who can add more creativity while producing in front of goal, or players whose main goal is to score goals, Tottenham could use the added depth in the attack.
Spurs have had three players score over 10 goals this season, but most of Tottenham's attacking potency has come in the form of one man.
If Spurs do grab the last Champions League place available, they'll need more than Gareth Bale to make a good run in the competition.
Here are five attacking players linked to Tottenham.
Cristian Tello
1 of 5According to Talksport, both Liverpool and Tottenham are hopeful of signing Barcelona starlet Cristian Tello.
The young attacker has shown plenty of potential in his decent amount of playing time for Barcelona during the last two seasons.
A tally of seven goals and four assists in La Liga is a sign of his increased maturity and decision making, coupled with his raw pace and dribbling skills.
Tello would be an exciting prospect should he join Tottenham, but he wouldn't be the impact player they need right away.
David Villa
2 of 5Tottenham have also been linked (via the Daily Mail) with Barcelona's David Villa.
Villa may be on the tail end of his career, but he would still be quite the capture for Spurs. Tottenham could certainly use a player with his experience and quality, even if he isn't a regular option.
Villa's 15 goals in 40 games this season may seem insufficient, but he's made a number of those appearances from the bench and hasn't always played in a central position.
Villa may not be the week-in-week-out striker for Tottenham if he joins, but he'd still be a productive and important player.
Gonzalo Higuain
3 of 5Gonzalo Higuain's impending exit from Real Madrid has attracted a lot of suitors, including Tottenham (via the Express).
The Argentinian has been a consistent goalscoring presence during his time in Spain but faces a continuous battle with Karim Benzema for the forward role.
Higuain is still only 25 and would likely spend his prime years in North London if he were to sign with Tottenham.
With the likes of Lewis Holtby, Mousa Dembele, Gareth Bale and others providing the ammunition, Higuain could be a real force for Spurs.
Christian Benteke
4 of 5Christian Benteke has taken the Premier League by storm in his debut season in England, and it's no wonder that numerous teams have been linked with him.
According to the Mirror, Tottenham is one of the club's looking to make a bid for the powerful Belgian striker.
Benteke's mixture of power, mobility and clinical finishing, as well as his ability to bring teammates into play, would make him a formidable player to lead the line for Spurs.
He has 23 goals and eight assists in 39 games for Villa this season.
Younes Belhanda
5 of 5The only attacking midfielder on this list, Younes Belhanda is reportedly a target for Tottenham this summer (via Metro).
The current Montpellier star is expected to leave France at the end of the season and North London could be his destination.
Belhanda would offer plenty of versatility, with an ability to play on the wings, behind the forward or even further back in midfield.
The last two seasons in Ligue 1 have seen him carve out a decent goal-to-games ratio for an attacking midfielder, with 13 goals last year and 12 so far this season.
