WWE News: Update on The Rock's Injury Status
Here we are, just a few days past WrestleMania 29 and what a ride it has been.
On Monday it was noted that The Rock had left a scheduled Raw appearance and headed back home to Florida.
This news sent the Internet abuzz leaving many wondering why he would have left.
Then a few hours before Raw started "The People's Champ" posted the following on Twitter.
In the middle of last nights Wrestlemania match I tore my abdomen & adductor muscles off the bone. Just part of the job. But as we know..— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) April 8, 2013
This tweet pretty much answered any questions that fans had on the subject and silenced his detractors. That being said, this injury opened the door to other questions regarding The Rock's WWE future. Some reports suggested that he may have to step back from wrestling due to his acting gig.
The reason being, that this is the first time that he had a serious enough of an injury that it could have pushed back the filming for his upcoming film "Hercules".
Word going around at last night's SmackDown tapings was that The Rock will not be undergoing surgery for his injuries suffered at WrestleMania 29 because it would force his Hercules movie shoot to be delayed. This has led to some speculation within WWE that The Rock's injury is fake but all signs point to it being legitimate.
So, it seems that he will be working old school and pushing through the movie with his injury. Which, depending on the way you look at it, could be good or bad for the company that's producing the film, Paramount. Ultimately, one has to assume that this will be another action flick. Which to me means, that The Rock may not be able to give 100 percent and could very well struggle through those scenes.
Keep in mind, The Rock is still slated to be a part of WrestleMania 30. However, with this recent set back I am left to wonder if he will back out in order to stay healthy, or if he will continue to give back to the company that made him.
In the end, he has had a solid run over the past three years, so if he decides to stay away from wrestling I really couldn't blame him. Especially considering that he is one of the biggest action stars in Hollywood and that's what ultimately pays his bills.
